A stainless steel Tudor Oyster Prince Date Day model. This is the Tudor version of arguably the game changing model for Rolex; "Day Date". That watch was first introduced into the Rolex line up under the reference 6511 in 1956 and remains very much a staple in the Rolex offering today. This Tudor takes up the mantle of the Tudor brand that brought to the market Rolex quality and designed watches, in a more affordable overall package. The Rolex equivalent to this watch was only ever available in precious metal, and was fitted with various Rolex, in house movements. This Tudor version was only available in stainless steel, and is fitted with an A Schilds, Swiss made, automatic movement; the caliber 1895. Another key difference with this watch, compared with the Rolex iteration, is the size of the case. This case measure 39mm, a giant compared to that of the Rolex's 36mm version. This is why the watch has been given the moniker; 'Jumbo'! The watch has a Rolex made case, which is signed on the back. The crown is a twin lock, water proof screw down with underlined Rolex coronet that is found on Rolex Oyster models. This is a rare example of dial on this watch. It has a glossy black dial, with silver writing, with wide and striped hands and markers. The dial also features the Tudor applied shield logo that replaced the Rose logo in 1969. The case is in excellent overall condition, with light wear, and not showing signs of being polished. The smooth domed bezel on this watch really enhance the cleanliness of the overall look. The dial is in excellent, original un-touched condition with the high gloss black finish. All the lume plots are in place and in good condition. The picture appears to show some wear, but this is to the crystal, which has subsequently been replaced. The watch is fitted on a hand made in Italy, cordovan leather Foundwell band. The reference is 7017/0, the watch dates to the early 1970's.
